Normally when we return from China to San Francisco, we prefer to take the non-stop flights. However, since we have relatives in Vancouver that we have not seen for quite a while, we decided to take Air China's flight from Beijing to Vancouver in order to sample Air China's International Business Class service.
Business Class on this Air China Airbus A330-200 is configured in a 2-2-2 configuration. As usual, I like the center section, since each passenger has direct aisle access.
The seats are in a cacoon shell design, reclining to a slanted flat sleeping surface, also known as a wedgie seat.
There is a monitor in front of the center bulkhead seats. The monitor is connected to cameras that shows the takeoff and landings.
The side bulk-head seats have bassinet attachment, and have slightly more room since there are no seats in front.
The bulkhead seats are most desirable, since you do not have to place your feet in the footwell, and there is more space to get to the aisle.
AVOD (Audio Video On Demand) monitors are available at every seat, and the screens are mounted on the seatbacks. Magazine slots are available in between the monitors.
AVOD controllers are in located at the side of the center console.
Seat controls are on top of the center console, partially covered by the tray table when the tray table is in use.
110V universal power port are located at the front of the center console. I was able to use my computer throughout the flight.
Drinks and nuts are served soon after take-off. It seems that on every Air China flight, the vast majority of the nuts are peanuts.
Printed menus were passed out after leveling at cruise altitude.
While the appetizer looks okay, the prawns are in their shells, and really not worth the effort to peel them.
