Visit to the world's tallest twin towers - Kuala Lumpur Petronas towers 04/2009 |

| I am a big Catherine Zeta Jones fan, and wanted to visit the Petronas towers ever since I saw the movie 'Entrapment'. During our recent trip to Kuala Lumpur, I finally get to visit this famous landmark. |

| The Petronas towers were built over a former race track, and much of the surrounding space is used as a park. |

 |
| Tickets to visit the twin towers are free, and they are only available on the day of the visit. The entrance to the ticket center is between the two towers, closer to tower two. Just take the escalator one floor down from the ground floor, and you will see the signs easily. |

| I got there around 7:30am on a weekday, and there were only 20 or so people waiting. By 8:30am, the crowd has increased significantly, but I think everyone there by that time would still have gotten tickets to visit the towers. |

| A few uniformed security guard maintained the orderly lines, I think this one is just taking a quick shut-eye :) |

| Minutes before the ticket counter opens at 9am, representatives come down the line asking for the country of the visitor and the number of tickets desired. Each person in line could request up to five free tickets, and you could also request a specific time for your visit. |

| The ticket window opens at 9am, and by this time, there were probably about 200-300 people waiting in line. |
|

| The gates rolled up, and the queue was processed quickly, I got my tickets within about 20 minutes. |

| Since we wanted to do some shopping and have lunch before visiting the towers, I decided to request a mid-afternoon time slot. |
|
 |
| The Suria shopping mall is located at the twin towers, with plenty of high-end boutiques, and several floors of food court. |
|
 |
| When we returned to the visitor center in the early afternoon, this sign was greeting the visitors. I think only 1400 or so tickets are available each day, so plan and getting to the ticket center early. |

| There is a small exhibit hall showing the construction and lightning simulation, as well as some video while visitors are waiting for their entrance to the tower. |
|

| About 40 visitors are allowed at each time slot, and the process is very well organized and orderly. |
